2013 Syrah makes Seattle Metropolitan Magazine’s Top 100

Sean Sullivan picks his top 100 wines for 2016 and select our 2013 Red Willow Syrah as one of the best the state has to offer. In his own words,”Quiet aromas of blue fruit, orange peel, and smoked meat are contrasted by juicy, dark plum flavors.”  Nice praise for this 100% Syrah from the historically famous Red Willow Vineyard.

Red Willow Vineyards 2013 Syrah

As it happens, before there can be prestigious wines, there need to be superb grapes.

One of our favorite vineyards, the fabled Red Willow, sits far west in the Yakima AVA and produces some of the best wines in the state. Family owned and operated, the vineyard has been nurtured and cared for since 1971; growing up with the budding wineries of the ’70s with the Associated Vintners (later called Columbia Winery) and provided fruit for many others – like William Church! – to create a distinction of quality and longevity. It’s coaxed from its land a new history of old world varietals.
